Mayor Dorothy was fascinating this week on the ITV News. She mentioned local celebs Geri Halliwell, Vinnie Jones, Bradley Walsh and even poet laureate Andrew Motion. The mind boggles. I know Vinnie can sing because he's been spotted doing a turn at The Crystal Palace at Berkhamsted. Could he manage a duet with Geri -how about The Girl from Ipanema? What's Andrew going to do - the Loco Motion? This could all be on our resited bandstand in Cassiobury Park.

Back to reality. I phoned up the Town Hall to speak to Arts and Heritage Officer Marion Duffin and Yes I got a real verbal Duffin. You would have thought I was talking about an undiscovered bomb by the Library not a bandstand. Never mind the Tin Man this was Teflon Woman. Apparently if us Munchkins want to know about live music the local council sends out a leaflet every month. What was really terrible, she didn't know anything about our quest for live music and a flourishing bandstand.

I am now lost for words - I need your help. Now where is that Yellow Brick Road ?

Just ask her to look out of her window at it!

Tell her to imagine it surrounded by deck-chairs with happy Watford residents listening to a tea time concert!

Encourage her to read your WO blogs!

Ask her to get Dorothy's support.

Here's Mayor Dorothy's number 01923 226400 Please ring her for I am just a humble Munchkin.
I've run out of knowledge and deck chairs and am terrified by Teflon Woman. Infact everybody ring her...

Get on with it!
There's a good story for the paper here so crack on.
And in the real world please don't forget Watford has the Pump House in Local Board Road with all its various musical and theatrical clubs which encorage local talent.
I may live in Devon but I still love Watford!
