When you look at Cha Cha Cha in Cassiobury Park from the outside, you can't help thinking drab.It has that typical austere presence not unlike the nearby Boys Grammar School. Grills at the window look like they are keeping the prisoners at bay but once you enter...Wow!
Inside it's bright, warm, imaginative and colourful.
It was buzzing with all ages and the 'bambinos' look very much at home. Not only a cafe serving light meals it also provides a base for yoga, a writer's group meeting and exhibition area for local artists.
In the past there have been some gigs there and the outside garden would be a perfect area for music next Summer. It would be ideal for light music on Sunday afternoons. If it rains a small ensemble could go inside and play the Cha Cha Cha.
This is proof that smaller and more flexible venues are much more useful. Oh and incidentally there is a very interesting Cat in the nearby ancient oak tree who looks like he's looking for the missing bandstand.
